Are Braces Faster Than Invisalign?

A common question we hear from patients interested in straightening their teeth is: Are braces faster than Invisalign in Huntsville, AL? Unfortunately, the answer to that question is not as straightforward as you might think.

You see, whether you are wearing traditional braces or Invisalign, your treatment time depends solely on the complexity of your case. For example, if you need to correct an overbite, that may take more time than someone who needs to close a few gaps between their teeth.

So, the best way to determine which type of orthodontic procedure is right for you and how long that treatment will take is to complete a smile evaluation with your dentist in Huntsville. In an assessment at King Dental, Dr. David King will use photos, x-rays, and an examination to determine the best treatment to help you reach your smile goals.

Once he creates your treatment plan, he'll be able to give you an estimate of how long it may take to achieve your straighter, more beautiful smile.

Compliance Is the Key

The key to completing orthodontic treatment on time is patient compliance.

Traditional Braces

If you're wearing traditional braces, keeping your teeth as clean as possible throughout your treatment is essential. It may require a bit more effort to brush and floss around brackets and wires, but it's imperative to achieve the best outcome.

You will also have to avoid sticky foods throughout your treatment that could pull brackets and wires off your teeth and prolong your treatment. The same goes for hard foods like crusty bread or nuts.

Invisalign

With Invisalign, you'll wear removable, clear aligners. So brushing is easy, and there are no food restrictions. However, the compliance piece comes with wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours per day and changing them every two weeks. If you don't wear your aligners consistently, you won't complete your treatment on time.

Dr. King offers Invisalign in Huntsville, AL, and can answer all your questions about the treatment.
